Description

 :icontimeless-forest:

Name: Eimhir (Eye-meer)

Nick Name: Meer; Ei; Meerah

Sex: Female

Birthday: June 11th

Actual Age: 207

Appearance Age: Early 20’s

Species: Selkie (Human that can turn into a seal)

Residence: Forest Dweller

Abilities:

  • (Song of Storms) - Like most selkies, Eimhir has the ability to control the weather/sea/water though it's weak and it is controlled mainly by her emotions.

  • (Swimming) - Eimhir as a seal can swim amazingly but even in her human form she can out-swim almost any other creature.

  • (Shifting) - Eimhir is a selkie, as long as she wears her seal-skin she can change at will for as long as she wants.

Personality: {-Lonely-} {+Friendly+} {-Awkward-} {/Gullible/} {/Shy/} {+Just+}

Lonely: When Eimhir became an adult, she chose to leave her Selkie family and start her own life on her own. At first, she wanted nothing but to adventure and do new things, but the longer she was alone, the more accustomed she got to being by herself. For a long time Eimhir never saw another selkie or human or immortal, the most she saw were fish and clams, the occasional shark but other than that, she had no one to talk to. Eimhir became very lonely and the few creatures she found she could talk to were fishermen whom she would accidentally lured to their deaths. Life seems bleak until recently. Now she lives in a place where she can be social again, but almost 200 years not having any companion means that she is awkward and still feels lonely. She is very dependable now, when she makes a friend, she is desperately fond of them and dependent on their companionship.

Friendly: Despite being shy at first, once Eimhir warms up to you, she is the friendliest thing in the world. The female selkie fears abandonment so she cherishes the friends she has and is always willing to have more. Though when you meet her, Eimhir's first reaction might be that of most selkies, swim away- but if you show her that you are kind, the selkie will surely come back to have a conversation with you. Sometimes, Eimhir will watch those who come to the lake so observe them, see if they are kind of heart and worthy of meeting her and being a potential friend. But often, her friendliness can come off as annoying and overwhelming but Eimhir doesn't know how to express her feelings and gratitude without smothering you in braids and gifts she finds... even if you don't like having fish bones braided into your hair.

Awkward: Eimhir has spent over a hundred years without much intereaction with anyone, not selkies, not mortals. That time of solitude was great but it did a great number on her social skills. Even when Eimhir was a child, her father didn't want her socializing very often so even before she knew she was a selkie, she had always been socially awkward. Though with time, she grew better, it was those many many years all alone that caused her to lose skills in that department. Eimhir is friendly but her shyness and elusive personality can be a tad disappointing. Don't be so haste to leave her, despite her awkwardness, she is kind, it just takes some warming up to actually get a true look at what sort of person Eimhir is.

Gullible: Like most selkie, Eimhir is as gullible as a five year old. She will believe just about everything you say. As many in selkie mythology know, it is very easy to trick a female selkie into becoming your wife for if you steal their skins they will do anything to get them back. Eimhir can be easily tricked and is a tad awkward about tricks or being lied too. If she finds out, she doesn't quite understand at first. She will often be in denial about it or just blatantly ignore the fact you said anything. Though, Eimhir will eventually have to come to term with it and acts on it with her just nature.

Shy: As most selkie are, Eimhir is very shy. She has little social skills and often will run or swim away from loud noises or strangers. Often seen sun bathing on rocks and the shore of the lake, Eimhir is pretty secluded because of her awkward nature and with little experience with others in social environment will often hide from those who approach her. Once she is sure she is safe she may come out and try to be friends with you.

Just: Though she is gullible, Eimhir has a true sense of justice when she sees good or wrong deeds. Like most selkies, Eimhir is one of her word, she will always keep her promise. She will also feel obligated to return favors and give others what they deserve. If you do a good deed and help a selkie it is known that selkies will often remember that and will return the gesture in anyway including saving you from drowning to ensuring good fishing for the rest of your days.

History:

Wahya was an adventurous Chinookan man. He was loyal to his tribe but he sought life else-where. After meeting with Lewis and Clark in 1805, the young native american boy was inspired by their far voyage.

He was a respected man of his tribe and was strong to his beliefs. He wished to be intelligent and in his free time would attempt to teach himself how to read ‘white folks’ language. Though he couldn’t seem to learn on his own, he still found himself drawn to adventure. It was a fateful day when the young man was given a chance to leave his life behind and explore a new world.

The Native American man left one dark night and rode a boat into the stormy seas towards England. It had been invited aboard the Kneelboat to go back to England with Lewis and Clark. In the years of travel, Wahya had become rather intelligent and accustomed to speaking multiple languages. It was an unfortunate time when a horrible storm knocked poor Wahya off the large ship into the cold stormy waters. He thought he had drowned, surely he had but when he opened his eyes, he was on a cold, foggy sand beach. The sun was covered by clouds and the island looked so foreign, he wasn’t sure where he was. When Wahya ran into actual people, he was surprised to find he was in Ireland.

Ireland was a beautiful place, at the time wasn’t inhabited by too many people. Wahya made his home near the Atlantic ocean and began to work on writing. Though he had wanted to go to England, he had no way of reaching Lewis and Clark or any other authorities in the main land without actually traveling there, and without any money, the man had a hard time even living in Ireland let alone adventuring. He gave that up and decided to stay in Ireland. It was a fateful day that he met her. While writing on the docks, a seal popped its head from the sea. It eyed Wahya before splashing him and knocking over his bottle of ink. At first Wahya was angry and cursed at the seal, but when he turned to chase the troublesome seal away, he gasped when he saw a woman in it’s place. Aideen glared angrily at the human. ”That's no way to talk to a lady.” she spoke, her Irish tongue caught Wahya off guard and he had to pull out his book for translation.

After a long conversation, Wahya convinced the woman to exit the sea and join him for a night that the two shared. In the morning, Wahya was surprised to see he was alone. He ran outside and looked for Aideen but she was nowhere to be found. Wahya decided to live in Ireland to find Aideen, waiting for his lover to return to him. It was a year later that Wahya discovered a newborn baby bundled in sealskin sitting on his front porch. Wahya took the child in and named her Eimhir. At first he thought that she belonged to someone else, but her dark skin matched his own, her eyes reminded him of Aideen, and he soon came to terms with the fact that the child was obviously his. He felt discomfort in the sealskin coat that covered his child and he threw the skin away. It was by fate that the sea took back what was rightfully hers.

For seven years Wahya raised his daughter in peace and tranquility, teaching her the ways of life in Ireland. She was a smart child, but Wahya kept her from the people of the island, schooling her at home rather than at a school. On Eimhir’s seventh birthday, she sat on the shore watching the horizon when she noticed seals playing in the waves. Something about them captivated her and drew her into the dark cold sea. She was engulfed. Eimhir strungled, splashing about, trying to get to the surface, but her efforts were fruitless. When it felt like all hope was lost something gentle pushed her to the surface.

When Eimhir woke, she could hear her father yelling and something soft in her hands. Opening her pretty brown eyes, Eimhir noticed a white seal coat in her grasp. She had washed up on shore somehow. Wahya ran to his daughter, tears rolling down his face. He embraced his child and locked her away in the house. Wahya wasn’t sure what the seal-skin coat was for but he didn’t want anything taking his beloved daughter from him so he locked it away in a chest and threw the key into the sea. From then on, Wahya never let his daughter leave the house. Seven years past and Wahya lost money and was forced to become a fisherman. He said his farewell to Eimhir and left to the sea for a three month trip. Eimhir waited for her father to return but on her birthday a knock came at the door. When she opened it, a single key lay on the porch. She grabbed the silver key and took it in the house. Her father had forbidden her to ever go near the chest in his room but curiosity got the best of her. When Eimhir put the key into the lock she was baffled to see that it fit. When she unlocked the chest, the once white seal coat was folded inside but now the coat was grey and spotted, resembling a harp seal at an adult age. Something seemed to come over Eimhir and she took the coat, slipping it on over her clothes. She walked outside, the first time she had truly left the house in seven years. The young girl could hear the sound of singing in the distance and followed it into the sea. The seal’s barked with excitement as she entered the cold waters. Before she knew it, Eimhir’s arms seemed to disappear and her skin became silk smooth. She was a seal. She swam with the other seals into the sea. The young selkie didn’t wish to leave the ocean. Eimhir loved this life, not the one being cooped up in the cabin. Eimhir finally went ashore and shed her selkie skin to walk as a human again. Before she could go far, someone called out to her. A woman in the sea called to her. It turned out that the woman was Aideen and she told Eimhir of her origin, of her father and of being of selkie blood. Eimhir decided she wished to live life as a selkie and she left to be one with the sea.

When Wahya came home, he was heartbroken to see his daughter had left, never to return. Eimhir lived with her mother and the rest of the small selkie community for about twenty or so years.

Eimhir lived her life as a selkie, but she didn’t enjoy the company of many others so she left the Atlantic Ocean to travel and find her place elsewhere.

When she discovered the Timeless Forest. She was able to live in peace at last and decided to make her home as a Forest Dweller in the land. She currently lives in the Pisces Lake and often swims up and down the Aquarius River.

[Pink-Shadow//Drew//RF]

The noon sky was a grey cloud scene, one with the strong scent of freshly fallen snow that left the earth blanketed in white frozen cold. Prey was snuggled sleeping in their hiding places making the times for the Tribe cats, difficult and hungry. The Pink-Shadow appeared from the cave that she had been mineral collecting in, her coat covered in dirt and black coal residue. With a soft sneeze the she-cat shook out her coat, its pretty glossy look ruined by her everyday job as a mineral collector’s apprentice. I look a mess! Well, I suppose the snow will help clean this off. Drew thought, prancing towards the Shadow Tribe exit. It was funny- to be with others again. It seemed like so long she had been with maybe one to five other cats and called them her family but now she lived with so many cats- she couldn’t even remember that many names. The pink-shadow left the Shadow Tribe and reached the neutral territory where a large pile of snow laid soft and read for Drew to just mess it up. “Perfect~” Drew purred and dived in, cleaning her fur of the soot and dirt that clung to it. After her dive and the quick cleaning. Snow now replaced the dirt and soot that once had hugged her fur like wet. Not far from her spot she found a large tree who’s roots sprang out of the earth in a coil of patterns, its thickness just large enough for Drew to sit on it and finish grooming as the clouds broke and small raise of sunlight dipped through the winter air.
